Oyo tertiary institutions shut down over unpaid wage increments

Oyo State-owned tertiary institutions have commenced an indefinite strike due to the non-implementation of approved wage increments and the new minimum wage. The Joint Action Committee (JAC), representing 15 unions, cites the government's failure to address these issues despite numerous meetings and notices since January 2024, impacting worker morale and the quality of education. They demand immediate implementation of the approved wage structure and increased subvention to the institutions.
